About Me

Gabriela Salgueiro Acevedo: Gabriela is a multidisciplinary artist whose work crosses the areas of illustration, toys design and animation. She studied Design at Valparaiso University, Chile, graduated with honors as the best student of her year and, in the same year, was funded by the Chilean National Government’s Ministry of Culture for her first stop motion animation entitled Enco, travesias a vapor (Enco, Travels in a Steamship).

This animation was selected for screening at numerous festivals around the world and allowed her to visit Russia as an invited artist at KROK International Animated Film Festival. Currently Enco, travesias a vapor is being distributed in France, Luxembourg and Belgium.

During the production of Enco she began working as a toy designer for Casaideas. Casaideas is a retail store renowned in Latin America for its design and, in particular, for designing a wide range of children’s products (wooden toys, toys stuffed, musical instruments, board games). It was during this period where she found her passion for the design and development of children’s products through her fresh and colorful vision to spark children’s imagination and curiosity.

After three years designing for Casaideas, in 2014 she decided to travel to Australia to broaden her horizons and seek new experiences and inspiration while working as a freelance illustrator for USA, Australian and Chilean design and publishing companies.

In 2015 she moved to New Zealand and established her own brand of children’s products called Wildkrok, and now collaborates with local artisans. Gabriela seeks inspiration in each new experience. With her acute sensitivity and special relationship with nature and the animal kingdom, she has developed an original, charming and naive style that seeks to spark the imagination and curiosity from 0 to 99 years.
